It has been reported that Pakistan’s largest telecom operator, once state owned, PTCL is facing a massive strike by its employees on several issues including salary raise demand.
Photographs above show a banner placed by PTCL employees at F-8 exchange Islamabad. Photograph on the right shows a closed door of customer service center at the same F-8 exchange in Islamabad. (Photographs by Khizer Iftikhar)
The banner reads:
“Anti labor actions by PTCL management unacceptable”
The banner also mentions their demands, which are:
1. 50% salary raise
2. Eid Bonus
3. Restoration of channel of promotion
4. Restoration of Anomaly and Move Over
5. Distribution of 12% shares among employees
Problems for Customers:
Because of this strike, PTCL customers all over the country are facing severe customer service problems. Many customers who came to F-8 exchange Islamabad complained that they cannot get services because of this strike. Some have billing related problems whereas others came to buy PTCL connections.
